Monday Memo

It is my desire to create a space carved out for each of you, so that I can offer some encouragement for the week ahead.

I was speaking to a tax lawyer this morning, and he asked me how my day was going and of course I said terrific. When I participated in the typical decorum of niceties, he responded that he would be much better if today were Friday. To which I said, "well you must be in the wrong profession if you would be better off if today was Friday."

Sputtering on about him loving his job, but Fridays are indeed better than Mondays, I interrupted his stammering to ask him his point of calling, therefore, letting the poor guy off the hook.

It was then that I thought, perhaps we ought to carve out space in here for a little Monday Memo- something where you can come, should you be in need of a Friday vibe over the Monday feel you’re experiencing.

For today’s memo, I simply want to encourage you to breathe.

Not overwhelming with insight, I realize. But the simplicity of it speaks volumes.

You see, after my less than delightful call, I decided to exercise, something that always rights my brain and sets my day back on track.

I spent 20 minutes of my time stretching and breathing. Like, really breathing. Breathing into those tight hamstrings and that shoulder that won’t give way. I spent the time listening to my breath, scanning my limbs to see what was loose, what was arguing.

I took in deep breaths of our God, and let out conversations, such as the one above, breathe out.

So for you, dear friend, consider breathing deeply for 10 minutes today. Consider adding that into your day every day this week.

In case you needed little nudge to participate, check out these phenomenal benefits to your body by doing just one little thing- breathing deeply.
