Essential Oils: Your Path to Wellbeing

Aromatherapy Oil

MOOD ENHANCING PLANTS

If you are like me, you enjoy knowing and understanding the 'why' behind Lavender, Stress Away and Frankincense as our memory release blend. When we have an understanding, and we apply that, we call it wisdom. Utilizing the wisdom of essential oil usage will create a much more profound freedom. Rather than cycling back to old habits and patterns, you will be more equipped to use the essential oils with much intention and purpose.

Let's have a look and the three oils.

Lavender

In 2010 Researchers in Germany studied the effectiveness of Lavender essential oil in capsules and found it to be as effective as Valium for the treatment of Generalized Anxiety Disorder. A more updated source can be found here~ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6007527/

Vanilla (found in Stress Away)

In 2015 researchers in China found that Vanillin (the key component found in Vanilla) was able to alleviate depressive symptoms in rats via the olfactory pathway. They demonstrated that Vanillin increased both the Seratonin an Dopamine levels in the brain tissue, (the feel good hormones that are released form the gut). That study can be found here~https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0165178114009494

Frankincense

Researchers at Hebrew University in 2008 discovered that Incensole Acetate, a component of Frankincense, acts on specific receptors in the brain that lead to an anti-depressant and anxiolytic effect, (decrease abnormal excitability). Find that research here~ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18492727

If you were reluctant to practice the memory release technique, perhaps now that you are aware, you'll feel safe to do so.

Imagine one drop of essential oil as a universe of molecules—roughly 40 million trillion individual molecules, or a 4 followed by 19 zeros (40,000,000,000,000,000,000). With our bodies housing about 100 trillion cells, that single drop can blanket every cell with an astounding 40,000 molecules each. And remember, it only takes one precise molecule to latch onto a receptor, sending signals that can alter cellular functions. This is why even a whisper of essential oil vapor can profoundly influence your body, brain, and emotions.

A Symphony of Scents and Science

Research reveals that when you inhale the vibrant compounds of essential oils, your olfactory receptors spring into action. They awaken regions in your limbic system—the epicenter of memory, emotion, and the subconscious—triggering a cascade of physical and emotional responses in less than a second. Inhaling a scent can reawaken memories and feelings you might have thought were long past, while certain essential oils work to calm your central nervous system, easing tension and quelling anxiety.

The Hidden Battle Within

Anxiety isn’t just a fleeting feeling; it has a physical presence, making your body more acidic. This increased acidity activates enzymes that can essentially “store” anxiety in your DNA. Here, essential oils come to the rescue by supporting your body to reduce this reaction. Moreover, these oils can help liberate old emotional traumas. Back in 1989, Dr. Joseph Ledoux from NY Medical University discovered that the amygdala—a tiny but mighty part of your brain—is key to both storing and releasing emotional memories. Our sense of smell directly taps into this limbic system, allowing aromas to unlock deep-seated emotions. The amygdala acts like a vigilant watchdog, constantly scanning for threats and quickly triggering a fight, flight, or freeze response. When we linger in this survival mode, our brains can become rewired, creating pathways that suppress our emotions and stifle our ability to connect with others. But as we begin to release these bottled-up emotions, new, healthier pathways form, enabling our minds and bodies to truly thrive.

Meet the Marvelous Molecules

  • Phenols: These potent compounds are like the cleaning crew for your cells. They stimulate your nervous and immune systems by purifying receptor sites, infusing them with antioxidants and oxygenating molecules. Clean receptor sites mean better cell communication and a healthier body overall.

  • Sesquiterpenes: Once the phenols have done their part, sesquiterpenes step in to correct miswritten information in your DNA. Found in nearly all essential oils, these molecules are the largest group of naturally occurring terpenes, prized even as fixatives in the perfume industry. Imagine sitting quietly with your sesquiterpene-rich oils, letting each drop wash over your mind and gently erase unwanted patterns.

  • Monoterpenes: Rounding out the trio are monoterpenes—nature’s repair agents. These molecules work to mend cellular damage, almost like performing a factory reset on your cells, readying them for new, beneficial instructions. Frankincense, a standout for its high monoterpene content, is a cornerstone in many of Gary Young’s emotional blends.

In essence, the magic of essential oils lies in their incredible molecular power and their ability to harmonize our physical and emotional well-being.
